Solomons keeps it the same

Edinburgh head coach Alan Solomons has named an unchanged side for what he has termed a must-win game against Cardiff Blues.

Edinburgh host the Welsh side at Meggetland on Friday night fresh from a 23-19 victory over the Dragons last weekend - their first away win of the RaboDirect Pro12 season.

The victory kept alive Solomons' ambition of securing a top-six place but he knows they must defeat Cardiff as they bid to close a seven-point deficit on Llanelli Scarlets.

The South African said: "There is a really good spirit building and a good sense of togetherness, and it's been positive for the squad to see that progress is being made.

"Under tough conditions they came out with a win against Dragons and I think that merited the team remaining in tact for the next match.

"This is another very important game for us. If we want to finish in the top half of the table then this is a game we have to win.

"However, as we have said all season, we must not put the cart before the horse.

"We must perform well in order to have the prospect of getting a result."
