Steenson on target in Exeter win

Exeter fly-half Gareth Steenson kicked 25 points as he steered the Chiefs to a 40-39 victory over west country rivals Gloucester in their final game of the season in front of a full house at Sandy Park.

The one-point victory ensured Exeter will play Heineken Cup rugby again next season, along with their opponents. It also marked the last game in respective club colours for two long-serving players - Exeter number eight Richie Baxter and Gloucester flanker Peter Buxton.

Dean Mumm and Damian Welch crossed for the hosts, who were also awarded a penalty try, with Jonny May, Charlie Sharples, Henry Trinder, Robert Cook and Freddie Burns the try-scorers for Gloucester.
