Thomas signs new Sale contract

Promising Sale prop Henry Thomas has committed himself to the Edgeley Park club until the summer of 2014.

The 19-year-old tighthead started the season as the captain of Sale's reserve side, but a series of injuries and international call-ups saw him promoted to the first team and he has turned in some impressive performances during his 16 appearances to date.

Those displays also earned the Millfield School product a call into the England Under-20s squad.

Sharks executive director of sport Steve Diamond said: "Henry is a great prospect who has a great attitude, great work ethic and it's a massive plus for the club with him agreeing to re-sign.

"He belies his age and he is exactly the type of player we need, to help us get to where we want to be."

The news comes just a day after it was confirmed that Sale's Welsh prop Eifion Lewis-Roberts will join Toulon next season.
