Tindall ligament strain confirmed
England captain Mike Tindall suffered a ligament strain to his left ankle in Sunday's RBS 6 Nations victory over Scotland, the Rugby Football Union have confirmed.
Tindall, who was replaced at half-time in England's 22-16 victory, had the results of an MRI scan assessed by an ankle specialist on Tuesday night.
The Gloucester centre will continue to receive treatment from England medics team ahead of Thursday's team announcement for the Grand Slam decider against Ireland.
If Tindall is ruled out of the trip to Dublin, Bath's Matt Banahan is the leading candidate to start at outside centre.
The captaincy would probably pass to Nick Easter, the Harlequins number eight.
