U-20s ready for Italy too

Ireland U-20s take on their Italian counterparts tomorrow at Beltrametti, in Piacenza (kick-off 3.00pm), with new coach Allen Clarke (right) seeking a second win of the campaign after getting the better of France 9-6 in last week’s game in Athlone.

The Ireland Women’s team is also on duty and they take on Italy, on the back of a 7-5 win over France, at the Stadio M Natali, in Colleferro, with a 2.00pm kick-off.

Elsewhere, there is some action on the club front where Ballynahinch, who didn’t manage to play last week’s rescheduled AIL game with Highfield due to an unplayable pitch at Ballymacarn Park, travel to Galwegians for a quarter-final tie in the AIB All-Ireland Cup.

‘Hinch are bidding to make the last four in the competition with pretty much the same selection from last Saturday’s cancelled game, with Willie Faloon able to tog out, though Rob Dewey will be missing because of Scotland A duty.

In the AIL, Belfast Harlequins can make a huge contribution towards extinguishing their relegation fears from Division Two when they take on struggling Clonakilty for their rearranged clash at Deramore.
