Gilroy joins list of Ulster injured for key games
Ulster have been rocked by a new injury blow with the news that Craig Gilroy fractured an eye socket in the weekend European Champions Cup win over Toulouse.
The winger will see a specialist in the coming days for a definitive prognosis that could spell bad news for the concluding fixtures in Ulster's European pool but he is ruled out of the province's festive fixtures.
The injury occurred in the 12th minute of the contest at the Stade Ernest Wallon on Sunday with his replacement Rory Scholes likely to once again fill the void for the Boxing Day visit to Connacht.
The recent form shown by Les Kiss's side - at the weekend they became only the second side to complete a double-header overToulouse - is all the more remarkable given the players they have unavailable.
Irish internationals Tommy Bowe, Iain Henderson, Darren Cave, Jared Payne, Dan Tuohy and Stuart Olding, as well as Pete Nelson, are all currently on the sidelines.
While captain Rory Best is likely to miss the visit to Galway on Saturday thanks to the IRFU's player management stipulations, Chris Henry could come back into the mix after missing last weekend with a shoulder complaint.
