Perfect preparation: Kiss is relishing an interpro arm-wrestle with Europe just around the corner

Ulster Director of Rugby Les Kiss has said an interpro battle with Connacht in the Sportsground tomorrow night will be the perfect launching pad into Europe for his side.

The Kingspan outfit have failed to make it out of their pool in the Champions Cup for two seasons running but, after some big name additions, will be accepting no less than a return to the competition's business end this year.

With a visit to Top 14 outfit Bordeaux kicking things off on Sunday week, Kiss believes tomorrow's trip to Galway should have his side locked and loaded for the contests to come.

"We're the scalp they want," he said.

"They haven't beaten us yet in their own words. We know we're going into a real colosseum there.

"It's going to be tough all the way, it's not going to be easy but it will set us up for Europe."

With the team to be named at lunchtime today, Ruan Pienaar is not expected to be included, meaning another start for Paul Marshall, while skipper Andrew Trimble's toe injury is still keeping him out of the side.
