Trimble returns for a landmark Ulster appearance to overtake Paddy Wallace

By Jonathan Bradley

Andrew Trimble will set a new Ulster appearance record tomorrow night after he was passed fit to take on Benetton Treviso as Guinness Pro12 action returns to Kingspan Stadium (6.05pm kick-off).

The winger has overcome a hip-flexor strain to be included in the team that will be announced this afternoon and an 190th cap eclipses the mark set by former team-mate Paddy Wallace.

The 30-year-old would have established a new record last season if not for a toe injury that kept him out from October until the end of the campaign.

Without a chance to prove he was firing on all cylinders, the 58-times capped international was left out of Joe Schmidt's Ireland World Cup squad but his presence will be a considerable boost to the Ulster panel tomorrow.

Neil Doak's men are out to bounce back after a poor performance away to Scarlets last time out and will expect to make amends with a comfortable win against the Italians.
