Ulster prop Rodney Ah You banned for a week after red card against Dragons
Ulster prop Rodney Ah You has been banned for a week after facing a Disciplinary Panel hearing in Edinburgh after receiving a red card in last Friday's game at the Dragons.
Ah You was sent off late in the game by Scottish referee Mike Adamson who deemed that the player had committed an act of foul play against Dragons' full-back Carl Meyer under Law 10.4 (g) - Dangerous Charging.
In the hearing verdict on Wednesday night it was confirmed he was banned for a week.
A statement from the Guinness Pro 12 Disciplinary Committee read: "The Disciplinary Panel – Roddy Dunlop QC (Chair), Iain Leslie & John Kirk (all Scotland) – accepted the player's admission of guilt and upon review of the incident deemed it clumsy and reckless, but not intentional.
"The foul was categorised at a Low End entry point which carries a suspension of two weeks.
"However, the Disciplinary Panel also took into account mitigating factors such as the player's prompt admission of responsibility for the offence, his exemplary conduct at the hearing, and his previous clean record.
"The ban was therefore reduced by one week leaving the player free to resume playing on Monday, April 3, 2017."
