Magners League play-off contenders Ulster have signed Auckland Blues back Jared Payne on a three-year contract.
Payne, a former New Zealand Under-21 international, has also played for Waikato Chiefs and Canterbury Crusaders and is the current Northland captain.
Ulster are currently third in the table, 12 points adrift of leaders Munster.
