Lions coach John Mitchell has made one change to his side for Friday's Super 15 encounter against the Blues in Johannesburg, with Wikus van Heerden drafted in.
The veteran forward replaces George Earl at lock following two impressive performances coming off the bench against the Bulls and Stormers.
Dries van Schalkwyk is named amongst the replacements for the first time this season with Earl dropping out of the match 22 altogether.
The Lions will be hoping to make it third time lucky this week following narrow losses in their opening two games.
Mitchell said: "What impressed me last week is that we worked together as a team for a longer period.
"Eleven of the players only played in their second Super Rugby match, and the matches for the past two weekends were against last year's champions and the other finalist.
"We're definitely on an upward spiral. The match was a big mental deposit for us. We're not far away.
"We have to keep working hard for each other and eventually we will get our reward as a group."
