Prime minister David Cameron and "passionate" rugby fan Prince Harry were joined by sporting legends at a party to celebrate the eve of the Rugby World Cup.

The prince, who is honorary president of England Rugby 2015, the organising committee staging the tournament, said he was eagerly anticipating the tournament. Hosts England will kick off the six-week sporting spectacle today, taking on Fiji at Twickenham after an opening ceremony.

Addressing the crowd at Rugby Football Union's welcome party, Prince Harry said: "As a passionate rugby fan, I will share the rollercoaster of emotions with millions of other fans around the world between now and the 31st of October."
