ANDY Murray could become one of the top earning British sportsmen of all time following his historic Wimbledon victory, a marketing expert has said.

Murray (26) is likely to land a raft of new sponsorship deals after his win and stands to rake in up to £15m a year.

The boost to his finances could put him just behind Lennox Lewis and David Beckham as one of the top earning British sports stars in history.

The Scot was ranked at number 32 in The Sunday Times Sports Rich List 2013 with an estimated fortune of £32m. His victory yesterday earned him £1.6m.

Nigel Currie of sports marketing agency brandRapport, said Murray will be likely to profit from lucrative new contracts.

He said: "It is as a global superstar where the major earnings exist. Murray could secure some really big deals with the biggest brands. He's earning £8-9m off court at the moment. We could see that edging up to £15m."
