Przemek Stec defied the pain-barrier to lift the Super Set title for the third year in a row on Saturday when he coasted to 6-1 win over Alex Watt in the final at Windsor.

The Pole had been suffering from an elbow injury which had also afflicted him when he beat the Hilden player in three-sets to lift the Ulster Open title at the Boat Club a fortnight earlier.

"I took pain-killers before the game and, fortunately, they seemed to work and I was delighted to win the match," said Stec.

"I didn't play particularly well against Alex at the Boat Club so I was determined to put in a better performance and I think I did.

"I played more aggressively this time and I didn't really give him too many chances to get into the match."

Stec's victory in the tournament was his sixth in seven attempts but Watt has still to end his losing sequence against the Windsor player.

Stec held his own serve to go 3-1 up and then proceeded to confidently reel off the next three games to secure the title in just 25 minutes.
