Soft-spoken Yorkshireman Ian Hutchinson sets off for the British
Championship this weekend at Cadwell Park with a bellyful of satisfaction,
not to mention a few quid in the bank.
There has been an old saying long associated with the Ulster Grand Prix that
if you can see Lough Neagh, then it is just about to rain, and that if you
cannot see Lough Neagh, then it is raining.
"When I was racing at my peak and the boys were growing up, I had no
idea that it would get to a stage where both of them would be racing against
me. I am so proud, I think it is impossible to put into words, but after
Saturday's win by my son William at the Ulster Grand Prix, I felt a glow all
over."
The sound of an MV Agusta raking its way round the Dundrod circuit is
something which still lives in the imagination of those who were at the
Ulster Grand Prix back in the late 60s and early 70s.
