The outlook is certainly bright for Linfield after they overcame a stern Cliftonville charge — not to mention a blanket of thick north Belfast fog — to claim victory at Solitude.
The contest swung one way and then the other throughout a scintillating four-goal first-half before the Blues bagged a further two without response after the interval to stretch their lead at the top of the Carling Premiership to 11 points.
Peter Thompson opened the scoring after just 12 minutes when Billy Joe Burns did the hard work down the right before Mark McAllister tucked a neat ball inside for Thompson to crash into the bottom corner.
