Boyce will fight our corner at FIFA
There would appear to be a silver lining behind the dark cloud that surely was the World Cup bidding fiasco. It comes in the shape of our very own Jim ‘The Voice’ Boyce.
Boycie is set to replace England’s Geoff Thompson as a FIFA vice-president and it cannot come soon enough.
Thompson has been accused of lacking influence in the higher echelons of power within the world governing body.
Some say he was too timid, his voice drowned amid President Sepp Blatter’s clamour to spread the gospel of football to far flung corners.
I’m sure the same criticism will never be aimed at Jim Boyce, already an influential figure and a man of the highest integrity.
