Boy's op horror
A young mechanic who had his right testicle removed after a shocking string of medical blunders has forced a hospital trust to cough up £35,000 in compensation.
The outraged patient was just 13 when he had the operation – a staggering eight months after he first complained to medics of agonising stomach pains.
Sunday Life today reveals how the boy was misdiagnosed and in the end had to have surgery to remove a testicle.
Details of the case were revealed in a ruling on the case at Belfast High Court. It was decided that if the boy’s easily treatable genital defect had been properly diagnosed from the start, he would probably not have had to have surgery.
