'Broke' thug's trip to darts decider
A “skint” loyalist thug who had £406,000 of assets seized by cops was able to afford an expensive trip to the world championship darts final.
Former Red Hand Commando boss Mel Matthews' appearance at the Lakeside Country Club last month will be of great interest to detectives from the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA).
Last year the 51-year-old loan shark was forced to surrender a huge house and adjoining land in Kells, Co Antrim, along with an undisclosed sum of cash to the government agency.
The handover came after he had £406,000 worth of assets frozen.
