Corry The Real Deal
New Northern Ireland hero Corry Evans has emerged as a shock loan target for Spanish club Real Mallorca.
World Cup legend Gerry Armstrong has alerted his old club to the potential of the Manchester United starletafter his sensational international debut winner against Slovenia.
Kid Evans (21) has been given the green light by boss Sir Alex Ferguson to temporarily part company with big brother Jonny at Old Trafford to gain experience during the loan window next month.
Former Northern Ireland goal-scoring hero Armstrong, a big admirer of Evans, has offered to act as go-between in any discussions between his former club and the 20-year old midfielder this week after Evans revealed his desire to move his career forward at club level.
“I had a chat with Sir Alex Ferguson and he wants me to gain some first-team experience so hopefully I’ll be out on loan next month,” said Evans, who has yet to make a Premiership appearance for the Red Devils.
“I don’t mind where it is as long as its a decent level where I can test myself.
“Be it England or abroad, I just want to grow and get stronger as a player and hopefully come back to Manchester United a better player and Northern Ireland will also benefit from that.
“My brother Jonny came back a bigger and better player from his loan spells at Sunderland and I really want to do that. A lot of the lads from the reserves have done that and a few now like Danny Welbeck, at Sunderland, and Tom Cleverley, at Wigan, are benefitting from that.
”That’s what it’s all about – playing football and improving There is definitely more to come from me for Manchester United and Northern Ireland.”
