Drugs gang are a set of dopes

A group of dopey drugs mules are at the centre of a haphazard plot to smuggle blocks of cannabis into Northern Ireland.

David Redfern, 27, and his equally thick friend David Dumigan, 30, were both caught trying to sneak two kilos of dope through Belfast International Airport in August 2009.

The pair were busted when a customs officer asked Dumigan did he have anything in his suitcase.

The dozy Newtownabbey man replied: “Yes, a kilo of cannabis.”

Dumigan was arrested along with Redfern and a third man — 32-year-old escort agency boss John Semple.
