Fearghal McKinney's fury at Sunday Life
Political hopeful Fearghal McKinney has refused to apologise for misleading the electorate — before he’s even been elected. The ex-UTV reporter confirmed last Wednesday that he will be running as an SDLP MP. McKinney has categorically denied fibbing to a Sunday Life reporter, insisting he was only trying to put our man off the scent when confronted about rumours he was about to enter the political fray. The incident happened TWO WEEKS ago when Sunday Life called at his east Belfast home to ask if he would be standing. But after he formally announced last week he was putting himself forward for selection we decided it was time the journalist turned politician faced up to the fact that he hadn’t been straight with the Press. We made an election-style poster for Fearghal to sign — which gave him the opportunity to vote against fibbing politicians. But the veteran hack didn’t see the funny side of our light-hearted stunt when we met up with him in Belfast city centre. For the full story, see this week's Sunday Life.
