High-flying students see off Gannon
Dungannon 3 - 21 UCC
UCC showed why they are the Division 1B’ s in-form side, as they outplayed Dungannon in an error-ridden All-Ireland League encounter at Stevenson Park yesterday.
Dungannon’s lack of competitive action in recent weeks was a contributing factor to this latest defeat, but with only two home games remaining, they are going to have to find a winning formula soon to avoid a possible relegation dogfight.
UCC deserved their victory because they took their chances. Winger Brian Derham contributed 11 points from three penalties and a conversion whereas Gannon’s James Shiells only found the target once from five attempts and, despite some encouraging displays from Glenn Sinnamon, Craig Gilroy and Stuart McKenzie, they struggled to break down a disciplined, organised and creative UCC defence.
