Irish must be Bang on
Ireland will go into their two One Day Internationals against Bangladesh in Belfast this week in fine nick and it's just as well.
They are their most important games of the year. Yesterday in Holland — a country somewhat pre-occupied with another sport at the moment — an under-strength Ireland side brilliantly won the World League Division One championship with a 100 per cent record — no mean feat given the absence of their top county players.
But since the Stormont games on Thursday and Friday (10.45am) are officially-ranked ODIs, the International Cricket Council has seen to it that William Porterfield, Niall O'Brien, Boyd Rankin and Gary Wilson will be released by their counties.
