Man charged by Kerr cops
A first man has been charged by police investigating the murder of police officer Ronan Kerr.
Omagh man Gavin Coyle, 33, appeared at Dungannon Magistrate’s Court yesterday charged with a litany of offences including possession of explosives, firearms and articles likely to be of use to terrorists.
Coyle, from Culmore Park, who appeared in court wearing jeans and a bright green polo shirt, was remanded in custody for four weeks.
The charges relate to items found during a police search in Coalisland earlier this month in the wake of Constable Kerr’s horrific car bomb murder.
At the time, Assistant Chief Constable Drew Nelson described the find as “the most significant in recent years”.
