A single tweet and the power of Rory McIlory lifted a marathon charity effort by 10 of the golf sensation’s former school pals into a whole new stratosphere last week.
Last weekend the weary but elated friends finished a 16 day/1,600 mile all-Ireland charity cycle after being given a massive boost by their famous former fellow pupil at Sullivan Upper School in Holywood.
The golf champ urged his worldwide following on Twitter “Everyone follow @willpowercycle!! Great guys and great cause!”
Rory’s support — while preparing for his own major challenge at the British Open — saw a surge of hundreds of new followers to the cyclists' twitter page with the hope that funds for spinal injury charities will ultimately benefit.
