Zoe returns to Blue Peter to mark famous telly show?s 50th anniversary

Glamorous ex-Blue Peter presenter Zoe Salmon is heading BACK to the legendary kids’ TV series! The Bangor blonde, who starred in the BBC show for three-and-a half years, will be a special guest helping Blue Peter to celebrate its 50th birthday in October.

Said Zoe yesterday: “I got a phone call from the production team to say that they are putting together special programmes and events for its 50th birthday.

“I’ve got a few wee jobs in October, but I will do my utmost to definitely be there because Blue Peter has been a massive part of my life.

“I am sure that it will be amazing!”

Zoe, who was back in Belfast to judge a High School Musical competition at CastleCourt shopping centre, hasn’t had a day off since saying goodbye to her Blue Peter fans — both young and not-so-young.

The 28-year-old former Miss Northern Ireland recently completed filming a new 13-part children’s game show, Hot Shots.

And yesterday, she took time off from another new high-profile telly series — the Nickelodeon channel’s reality fashion show Bratz Design Academy.

“We started filming last Friday and will be working solidly on it for the next few weeks. But they very kindly released me to come home and judge the High School musical competition,” added Zoe.

“I’m due back at work on Bratz at 8am on Sunday — I haven’t actually had a day off since I left Blue Peter. My first day off is on September 7!

“I was in Dublin last week to do a job with Disney, so I arranged for my best friend and my sister to come down for a girly night out and go for something to eat.

“My best friend Nichola said to me, ‘Do you know that I haven’t seen you for four months?’ That made me realise how the time has flown in since I left Blue Peter. It would be really nice if I got some ‘downtime’ soon. It would be lovely to come back to Bangor and go and sit on Ballyholme beach!”

And with her work schedule taking up so much of her time, it doesn’t seem that love is on the horizon.

Hollyoaks star Gerard McCarthy has been romantically linked to Zoe.

But inquiries are fended off with a laughing “no comment”!

She said: “Well, there is no ring on my finger. Whether that means I’m single or not, I couldn’t comment!”

Things couldn’t be better for Zoe right now with Hot Rods — made by the Deal or No Deal team — due to start on August 30 and Bratz Design Academy scheduled for October.

“It’s a dream come true for me to do a game show like Hot Rods and now to be doing a massive big TV fashion project.

“I know that I am really fortunate. It is great that I have already ticked two boxes — two things that I really wanted to do.”

But Zoe — recently linked in the Press to the BBC hit show Strictly Come Dancing — admitted that a prime time series is one of those ambition boxes yet to be ticked.

“Well, any presenter nowadays wants to do a big Saturday night show.

“I love working in children’s TV and I would not turn my back on it. But I would like to do TV for an adult audience.

“I hate that saying about things being ‘in the pipeline’, but there are are some things. We’ll see what happens.”

Gritty, moving and heroic...Billy plays captured life here

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times ... Sunday's 30th anniversary screening of the seminal Too Late to Talk to Billy was riveting viewing. But it wasn't nostalgic viewing.

Why trying to go on a diet is never really a piece of cake

Scary movie? Their jaws were sore from laughing

Teenage boys love horror films and I have two who are in charge of the remote control in our house, so naturally there’s gore-a-plenty on the box most weekends. However, until recently one film was banned.
