Fans of bankrupt ex-football star Keith Gillespie are campaigning to get a potentially money-spinning testimonial held in his honour.
The former Man Utd star, who is now training with Darlington, last night told Sunday Life that the Facebook campaign by fans is “fantastic” but he isn’t too confident the IFA will give the match the go-ahead.
The fans’ Facebook bid was launched last week calling for the friendly to be hosted at Windsor Park to mark Gillespie’s years playing for Northern Ireland.
Green and White Army supporters are making the call after it emerged that ex-Man United winger Gillespie had gone bust over a tax bill.
