Opera singer Carla Maney nearly misses her big chance
Newry opera singer Carla Maney, who appears on BBC's The Voice tonight, was nearly robbed of her chance of fame when a mystery illness left her unable to sing.
Cardiff-based Carla, 47, teams up with fellow opera singer Barbara Kelly form Essex to perform The Flower Duet from the opera Lakme at the blind auditions on the BBC1 talent show tonight.
While we aren't going to spoil the show by revealing if she gets through, Belfast busker Conor Scott, Carmoney fashion student Leah McFall and Andrea Begley from Pomeroy, have all already passed the blind audition stage.
“It was an opportunity to appear on TV and have fun,” said Carla.
