Sunday Life Cover Girl 2015
Fermanagh beauty Aimee Boyle triumphs in battle of the blondes to win this year's crown.
We've been searching for Northern Ireland’s next supermodel and now we’ve found her — the Sunday Life Cover Girl 2015 winner is the amazing Aimee Boyle.
It was a battle of the blondes as the 18-year-old Fermanagh schoolgirl narrowly defeated 22-year-old Portadown girl Rebekah Wallace in a judges’ vote after the dazzling duo travelled to Portugal for a glamorous sun drenched photoshoot in the Algarve.
In the end, it was Aimee’s international top model potential that saw her take the Cover Girl crown.
And our judges have good taste — because Aimee’s just been signed to a top model agency in Milan.
Speaking about her Cover Girl experience, the teenager said: “It’s just been so, so much fun.
“Portugal was the most amazing experience — how many 18-year-olds can say they’ve done a glamorous foreign shoot like that?
“We couldn’t have asked for a better team.”
Aimee now plans to complete her A-levels in business, childcare and travel and tourism at St Comgall’s College in Lisnaskea before going to Milan in the summer to try her luck on the catwalks of the Italian capital.
“It’s all happening for me now but I couldn’t have done it without the support of my school and my mum — she’s my number one fan,” Aimee said.
The future star said she’s most excited about bringing the Cover Girl title home to county Fermanagh.
“I hope seeing me do well inspires other girls in Fermanagh to go into modelling,” she said.
“Sometimes the scene here is only based around Belfast and I know lots of girls from my area who could do really well.
“Now I just want to work hard and prove to everyone that they were right to give me their vote.
“I’ve applied to university too but modelling is where my heart is so I’m going to try my very best to make a successful and long career.”
Runner up Rebekah said she wished winner Aimee all the best with her future as this year’s Cover Girl.
“Aimee and I became good friends in Portugal and I know she’s going to go on to have an amazing and successful modelling career,” she said. “Being in Portugal together, I learned so much from her.”
Drama graduate Rebekah described her Cover Girl experience as “a once in a lifetime opportunity”.
“I was so shocked even to make it to the top ten, so to be in the final two was a dream come true,” she said. “Since then I’ve had modelling work non-stop and it’s really ignited my passion for the industry.”
On her luxury trip to Portugal, Rebekah said: “It was so valuable to get a behind the scenes look at the modelling industry.
“At one stage I was trying to balance on a chair, in water, while posing, and it was tough but it’s all worth it to get that image you’re happy with.
“I plan to keep modelling, and I hope to combine that with my acting work to really combine my passions in the future.
“Cover Girl has given me that opportunity.”
Here is what our judges had to say:
Esther Small, Brand Manager at West Coast Cooler NI:
“Just like West Coast Cooler, our winner is refreshing, sparkling and full of vitality and will undoubtedly have a very successful modelling career ahead of her.”
Andrea Hunter, Business Development Manager of Aer Lingus in NI:
“Aer Lingus was delighted to be a travel partner to the Sunday Life Cover Girl competition and to provide flights from Belfast City Airport to Faro for the location photoshoot. Congratulations to Aimee, she really caught the eye of the judges and is a fantastic example of the undiscovered potential models we have here in Northern Ireland.”
Brenda Shankey of Jason Shankey Salons:
“What an unbelievable experience for girls from Northern Ireland to be given an international location shoot opportunity. Well done to both finalists — they really were exceptional in my eyes.”
Camila McCourt, Marketing Manager, from CastleCourt shopping:
“We loved Rebekah due to her natural, girl-next-door look and the fact that she will appeal to girls of all ages. Of course, the images from Portugal speak for themselves as her supermodel skills came to the fore, we wish both girls all the very best of luck in their future careers.”
Mark McCormick, Sunday Life Picture Editor:
“Aimee is a natural model, very photogenic, and easy to work with.”
Head of the judging panel, CMPR’s Cathy Martin:
“We’ve had another hugely successful Cover Girl competition and from the top 10 girls we’ve already signed at least six girls for future work at CMPR Models. Our winner Aimee will go far in modelling — in fact just this week she was also signed to an international model agency in Milan — but I also think Rebekah will do very well. She is an actress and performer and I foresee some great things ahead for her.”
