Rangers hitman Kyle Lafferty goes into today’s Old Firm clash with new question marks over his top level capability posed by his Northern Ireland boss Nigel Worthington.
Worthy last night insisted he still needs to be convinced of the 23-year-old’s focus — despite the Fermanagh-born ace earning rave reviews for recent performances for club and country.
“I’ll hold fire for the moment,” Worthy rapped. “I’m not going overboard because he doesn’t merit it. He’s mature enough now by virtue of the games he has played to be making his mark more frequently.
“I need to see it more often and I’m sure he does, too.”
Lafferty could be one of five Northern Ireland players involved in today’s Old Firm clash. Steven Davis, Andrew Little and Lafferty will be in the blue corner while Paddy McCourt and Niall McCourt are primed and ready to sparkle for Neil Lennon’s Celtic.
