An angry mum last night blasted the pervert who abused her daughter by telling him to “ROT IN HELL”.

Kate Acton and her daughter Angela waived their right to anonymity to slam sicko Desmond Graham after he was jailed for one year at Belfast Crown Court last Friday for indecently assaulting the schoolgirl.

Graham, who was convicted by a jury, was also placed on the sex offenders register for life, ordered to serve a three-year probation period and told to stay away from the Ballyduff estate in Newtownabbey after his release.

Angela, now 14- years-old, was assaulted when she was 12 at alcoholic Graham's home.

She had gone to the fiend's house with her pal to visit a young relative.

After attempting to put his hand down her underwear and up her top, he also attempted to kiss her when she was sitting on a chair.

The terrified girl fled from the house in tears.

Ms Acton, from Newtownabbey, welcomed the fact that Graham had been jailed, but expressed fears the 39-year-old sex fiend could strike again when he is released.

Said the 32-year-old mum: “I’m just glad he’s off the streets for a year and won’t be able to prey on any more innocent children.

“I just wish he pleaded guilty at the start because it would have prevented my daughter from experiencing the trauma of giving evidence in court.

“He will have to live with his actions for the rest of his life and I’m glad he’s on the sex offenders register for life.

“I know he’s going to jail for a year, but I will be worried when he gets out of jail and I just hope he stays away from this area.

“He told lie after lie and we are just so relieved that he has finally being put away for his terrible crimes.”

We revealed in June how the young girl was left “traumatised” after the abuse.

Added the worried mum: “My daughter was a quiet girl who just loved life. But then this monster took away her innocence. Angela became a totally different person after this experience and I can't believe this man, who was a neighbour of ours, would attempt to attack my daughter in this way.

“She started smoking and missed school and this is all because she didn't know what way to react to what she had been put through.

“Angela is still receiving counselling and we are now just attempting to get her life back on track after everything that she has been through.

“No child should have to go experience such sickening behaviour like this.”

Kate also praised her daughter's young pal for giving evidence during the trial.

And she urged other victims of sexual abuse to come forward, adding: “It's imperative that people come forward if they are subjected to any forms of sexual abuse. We could have remained anonymous, but we just wanted to take a stand against people like Graham and show the people of Northern Ireland that we are not afraid of these perverts.

“I would be willing to speak to other victims to share our experiences and do what I can to help other people who may be afraid to come forward. I feel sorry for Graham's family, but people like him should be exposed.”

Gritty, moving and heroic...Billy plays captured life here

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times ... Sunday's 30th anniversary screening of the seminal Too Late to Talk to Billy was riveting viewing. But it wasn't nostalgic viewing.

Scary movie? Their jaws were sore from laughing

Teenage boys love horror films and I have two who are in charge of the remote control in our house, so naturally there’s gore-a-plenty on the box most weekends. However, until recently one film was banned.
