Sexton on fire again
There was no Grand Slam for England yesterday, Ireland finally having come good. Boy, did they come good.
All along Declan Kidney’s side had insisted that they are capable of high-tempo, 15-man rugby.
Yesterday they proved the point, totally outplaying previously-unbeaten England.
Ireland made a great start, putting down telling early markers. Their first scrum saw them walking forward, No 8 Jamie Heaslip with the ball at his feet, as England retreated. Then Jonathan Sexton made a cheeky break before kicking ahead for Keith Earls to chase menacingly. Next up, Sexton judged an out of hand kick to touch to perfection.
