Whatever manager Anthony Tohill said to his players at the end of a miserable third quarter for Ireland worked wonders.
A crowd in excess of 30,000 at Limerick, who had been very subdued for most of the contest, were brought to life in the final quarter.
Footballer of the Year Bernard Brogan salvaged Irish pride when he scored the only goal — a six pointer-to bring Ireland back from the dead.
Those who attended in anticipation of the fight fireworks that brought a temporary halt to the series were disappointed.
