Crues' pride at trio's exploits
Crusaders chairman Stephen Bell admitted he was “the proudest man in Northern Ireland” after seeing three of his players in a national jersey at the same time.
The Carling Nations Cup has been branded a waste of time by critics but Crusaders trio Colin Coates, Stuart Dallas and Jordan Owens will never forget it.
Northern Ireland may have lost 2-0 to Wales as the four nations tournament ended as it started for Nigel Worthington’s side — with a whimper — but Irish League history was made when three Crues players featured for the senior international side in the one game.
Coates played the full match while Dallas featured for half an hour on debut with Owens enjoying the final 10 minutes on his international bow.
