If the cap fits
If your club makes one more signing this summer, they could be|automatically relegated — that's the stark warning being issued by the Irish FA as the Carling Premiership's wage cap prepares to take effect.
An extreme scenario perhaps, but a very real possibility given that some clubs have already exceeded their budgets for the new campaign, leaving certain managers with the arduous task of balancing the books by waving goodbye to players with little or no possibility of replacing them with new arrivals.
The IFA will this week complete a series of meetings during which all Premiership sides will be informed of exactly how much money they will be allowed to allocate to player wages for the 2011/12 season — with serious repercussions for any club found guilty of circumvention.
