Jamie Mulgrew came off the bench to inspire Linfield to a sensational victory in yesterday’s JJB Sports Irish Cup final at sun splashed then rain drenched Windsor Park.
His magical touches turned the game on its head and helped clinch an amazing fifth double in six years for the Blues.
Mulgrew, a shock omission from the starting line-up, left the dug-out at a point when lethargic Linfield trailed to a deadly Declan Caddell strike.
But, in the 27 minutes he was on the pitch, the little dynamo worked wonders and twice launched missiles from distance which Crues keeper Chris Keenan simply couldn’t deal with.
And when the hapless Keenan spilled the ball who else but Pistol Pete Thompson and Mark McAllister were alert enough to pounce.
