Top cop facing threat of jail
A top cop could face jail over accusations he perverted the course of justice.
Barry McKelvey is also charged with unlawfully obtaining and disclosing personal data, and will go on trial on April 23.
The PSNI sergeant, who is based at Castlereagh station in east Belfast, was arraigned at Downpatrick Crown Court last week.
When asked how he was going to plea, McKelvey replied “not guilty” to both counts.
