Wallace out of World Cup

Ireland have been hit by a massive blow ahead of next month’s World Cup as flanker David Wallace has been ruled out of the competition after sustaining a knee ligament injury in yesterday’s 20-9 defeat to England at Lansdowne Road.
The 35-year-old Munsterman had to be stretchered off in the first half after he fell awkwardly following a crunching tackle from England centre Manu Tuilagi and, after the game, Ireland coach Declan Kidney confirmed that Wallace will now not be going to New Zealand with Shane Jennings called up in his place.
It was bad news all round for Kidney as not only has he lost a key player in his squad but the coach has now seen his side lose all four of their World Cup warm-up games against international opposition.
