This harrowing image of a young dad languishing in a coma reveals the sickening reality of Ulster’s Twelfth thug culture.

It is the first photo of Andrew McDowell — the 20-year-old beaten to a pulp after an Eleventh night bonfire in Cullybackey.

The yob attack on Andy is the second devastating blow to hit his family — just eight weeks ago his teenage brother Dean committed suicide.

A Ballymena community worker — who released this photo of the lad in intensive care last night — said: “The family are praying he’ll recover.”
