But the pastor at the centre of the claim says he was the victim of assault.
Police have launched an investigation into the alleged incident at the Pride event, which took place last Saturday and celebrated lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender life in Northern Ireland.
Connor Kerr, a 21-year-old hair stylist and fashion event organiser from Belfast, became involved in a heated exchange with a Christian pastor at the side of Belfast City Hall.
Pride event organisers had asked Connor not to take part in the parade, as they felt the banner he was carrying, which said ‘Jesus protect me from your followers’, was too provocative.
