Active: Zoe Salmon likes to learn new things

Zoe Salmon has turned down tens of thousands of pounds to be a contestant on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! because she thought it would be boring!

The former Blue Peter babe, who was guest of honour at the 7UP Go Belfast awards in Belfast on Friday night, tells me she didn't fancy spending three weeks in the jungle with Jordan because it would be a “waste of time”.

But, Zoe was quick to assure me she wasn't put off by the creepie crawlies in the Australian jungle.

“I went to the rainforest in Bolivia when I was with Blue Peter,” says Zoe. “I've had tarantulas on my hands and rats running over me so I'm A Celeb would be a doddle.

“I'm a real action girl so I would be great at the tasks. I just don't like all the sitting around,” says Zoe who looked stunning in a sheer dress from Israeli designer Mayka Amrami.

“I get offers to do all sorts of reality shows and really most of them are not my cup of tea.

“It's not just about the money — I have to do projects that interest me. I did Dancing on Ice because I learned a new skill but what am I going to learn sitting in the jungle? It's just not for me.”

And Zoe revealed she was hosting a special 'Welcome To Belfast' party for her pal Konnie Huq while she was enjoying a rare weekend at home.

“I just love showing off Belfast to my mates.

“I'm so proud of Northern Ireland so I've booked a room in a pub and we're going to get a karaoke machine. Konnie and I are going to impress everyone with our Celebrity Fame Academy singing skills.”

Gritty, moving and heroic...Billy plays captured life here

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times ... Sunday's 30th anniversary screening of the seminal Too Late to Talk to Billy was riveting viewing. But it wasn't nostalgic viewing.

Parties need better defence in Stormont's game of two halves

Surprise, surprise. Peter Robinson has been to his first gaelic match, Martin McGuinness is heading for Windsor Park and the Ulster Unionists have scored another own goal.

Why trying to go on a diet is never really a piece of cake

Some people make New Year’s resolutions, I make lists. Every new year I determine to keep track of everything I spend and everything I eat and drink.

Scary movie? Their jaws were sore from laughing

Teenage boys love horror films and I have two who are in charge of the remote control in our house, so naturally there’s gore-a-plenty on the box most weekends. However, until recently one film was banned.
