Ireland gets to try new Facebook emojis first

Last month, Mark Zuckerberg revealed Facebook would be unveiling a much-requested alternative to the "like" button, but didn't say exactly what it would be. Now, a pilot test reveals that "Reactions" actually offers six more options - love, haha, yay, wow, sad and angry - in addition to like, with a little animated smiley for each.

So far, only users in Spain and the Repulic of Ireland get to trial the enhanced emotional spectrum.

It's crochet needles at dawn: Amazon has officially unveiled its latest retail stream, which is being seen as a competitor to 10-year-old handicraft shopping site, Etsy. Called Handmade at Amazon, the store is open to makers of jewellery, homewares, art, stationery and more, as long as products aren't factory-made.

Currently geared more towards the US market (not all sellers ship internationally), the site is invite-only and has opened with around 5,000 makers listed, hoping to attract some of the retail behemoth's 280 million shoppers.

While there's no shortage of music-recording apps to download from iTunes, the decent ones charge upwards of £3.99, even for the most simple interfaces.

New iOS launch Parola offers studio-like quality and a wealth of collaborative elements, too, but it won't cost you a penny. Every song in the app's archive can be remixed and users can create tracks together, no matter where they are in the world.
