Netflix has announced pay-as-you-go cards that pay for access to its streaming service but without the need for a monthly subscription.

Previously the only payment options available to access the streaming website were PayPal or use of bank card.

The cards work in a similar way to those offered by Amazon, iTunes or Google Play.

They are available in three denominations; £15, £25 and £50. Users scratch the code and top up the account.

The card can be used with both new and existing accounts, allowing subscribers to opt out move to pay-as-go if they prefer.

Argos, Currys, GAME, PC World, WH Smith and Asda are stocking the cards with more newsagents and supermarkets to follow in the coming months.
