Review: Killzone 3, PS3

Published 28/02/2011

As sci-fi first-person shooters go, Killzone 2 was about as good as it got.

And, following on from where things ended in that game, Killzone 3 suggests that it'll take no prisoners throughout its brutal single-player story, and that it will stop at nothing to snatch that shooter crown from its older brother.

With a refined control system and the added bonus of excellent PlayStation Move compatibility, the game's difficulty and variety are spot-on.

Among the fun are some standout jet-pack and vehicle sequences as well as the more-traditional on-rails elements.

The stunning, gritty graphics are beautifully atmospheric and, aligned with a soundtrack that provides a similar level of dramatic input.

Killzone 3 pulls together a gaming package that sets a new benchmark for sci-fi shooters.

Platform: PS3 Genre: Shooter Rating: 90%
