Tele Recommends: Northern Ireland's best make-up artists

We've consulted the experts to bring you the best Northern Ireland has to offer - the places, the food, the music, the craic.

Tracey Rodgers is Director of Style Academy Model Agency and has been employing make-up artists for almost 25 years. A make-up artist herself, there are really only a handful of people worthy of using the letters MUA she would recommend.

What is Tele Recommends?

Asked to name Northern Ireland's five best Make-up Artists, she recommends...

Samantha Weightman, Carryduff, Belfast

A brilliant all-rounder — always on time, highly skilled in all aspects of make-up from natural beauty to high fashion, artistic, creative and I even entrusted her with my own wedding make-up last month! Sam is very precise and her work can stand up to the closest scrutiny. Sam has basic hairdressing skills too which make her an obvious choice by clients for commercial shoots.

Paddy McGurgan, Make-Up Pro Store, Royal Avenue, Belfast, 028 9043 4007

Renowned for his flamboyant and highly creative style, Paddy is a favourite choice for fashion shows and high fashion editorials. More recently he has become known for his teaching skills and has opened two fabulous make-up stores, one in Belfast and the other in Newry.

Claire McEvoy, 07968 695 104

Well known in the industry for her passion and unique talent for creating vintage make-up looks, Claire is one of the busiest make-up artists commercially, responsible for many advertising campaigns. It is impossible to walk down a street in Northern Ireland without seeing faces peering from billboards or adverts who have been made up by Claire.

Stacey Kilpatrick

We initially knew Stacey as a very talented face painter and body artist. That was many years ago, but her flair for creativity and artistic accuracy led her naturally into the area of make-up artistry. A regular on the fashion and photographic scene, qualified in special effects make-up and a busy bridal make-up artist, Stacey is capable of pretty much meeting any brief she is given.

Jennifer Ireland

Jennifer is well known on the circuit as a beauty and bridal make-up artist, but with a degree in fine art she has incredible technical ability and flair for creating the spectacular. It is this ability which makes her a natural choice for innovative fashion shoots and shows. Lips are one of the most difficult areas to get right — and they are my personal bugbear. In my opinion Jennifer can do the best lips in the business.
