What has happened to the wine column in your Saturday Magazine? The local content is lost. We cannot buy wines recommended from Oddbins or Morrison. Okay we can get from the big supermarkets Tesco, Sainsbury etc but there is much more to wine in Northern Ireland than these traders. What about the independents ,DWS, James Nicholson, Gap wines to name a few.
Also where has the information gone on local wine events.
Please think again and bring back a local perspective it is the Belfast Telegraph after all.

New Single-Father Suicide Awareness Production Starts Rehearsals

Rehearsals have commenced for a new suicide awareness theatre production to be staged across Donegal at the start of next month. Forever Fathers, which is a voluntary support and lobby group for single-fathers (who are un-married, separated or divorced) across the county, are seeking to highlight the growing rate of stress, depression and suicide amongst single-fathers who are being deprived of access to their children.

The production which is entitled ‘A Far Cry...’ has been especially commissioned by Forever Fathers and the story tells of Eddie, a father of two who has recently split from the mother of his children. Due to the fact that they were not married, Eddie has no rights under family law and has no influence on the lives of his children. The continual lack of contact with his children, plus the fact that his former partner has found a new man leads Eddie

Love is like magic
and it always will be,
For love still remains
life's sweet mystery.

Love works in ways
that are wondrous and strange
And there's nothing in life
that love cannot change!

Love can transform
the most commonplace
Into beauty and splendor
and sweetness and grace.

Love is unselfish,
understanding and kind,
For it sees with its heart
and not with its mind.

Love is the answer
that everyone seeks...
Love is the language
that every heart speaks.

Love can't be bought,
it is priceless and free,
Love, like pure magic,
is life's sweet mystery!

Free Presbyterians and the Sabbath Day. If the Free Presbyterian's and others are such good Bible students, why do they tell us that the Sabbath Day is on a Sunday. Nowhere in the Bible do we see the Sabbath Day being changed to a Sunday. In fact we don't even have the word Sunday in the Bible. The Lord God rested on the seventh day and hallowed it "set it apart" The fourth commandment is to "Remember the Sabbath Day to keep it holy" This isn't a Sunday. This day is the same day that the Jewish people have kept for over four thousand years. It starts from sunset Friday and ends at sunset Saturday.... this is the biblical Sabbath Day. Another thing the Free Presbyterians and others get wrong is their understanding of the Lord's Day. They take verses out of context and twist them around to mean something something else. These Churchie people need to take a look at God's chosen people the "Jews" and maybe then the might learn a thing or two about what the Bible really says.

On Thursday 11/09/08 I bought my Telegraph and turned to the "nicarfinder". On page 2 there was an intro to " On Two Wheels" which indicated that I should turn to page 21. On doing so, I found an advert for Charles Hurst. I searched the entire supplement but was unable to find the article in question. As a biker for over 40 years, I was wondering why an article on biking was excluded after being advertised. Will the full article be included in another issue? I would welcome your comments.

General Enquiry: I am a Young Urban Professional earning a salary above the N.I average, this salary has come with numerous years of schooling and University my partner is in the same position, but we feel and the consensus between my colleagues is that we have been cheated i.e. we studied long days long nights trying to better ourselves and have been financial punished through student loans and lack of readable funding, but if we had dropped out of school had children and claimed benefits we would not have this debt and would find it easier to live i.e. housing paid for, monthly benefit from the government, when did we become a society that punishes peoples ambitions?

I am desperately searching, on behalf of Brenda Pryce from the Wirral (currently living in Australia), for Jeff Brown who used to live on Victoria Road in Holywood. Brenda is now 61 and I believe Jeff is about 7 or 8 years older. Brenda knew Jeff in the mid '60s and has been trying to contact him for the past 5 years.
If anyone could help with this search I should be very grateful if they would contact me.
Thank you in anticipation.

Privacy, freedom and civil rights could be improved in Northern Ireland by replacing the income tax and tax returns with a principality government capable of paying its bills with internal revenue from income generated by government owned assets. Augmented on an as needed basis by a non intrusive, non coercive sales tax.

Firstly all my emails to your email addrress are being returned as user not recognised!!

This is what I have been trying to send

At last someone who recognises the rights (and pleasures ) of social cycling. Your piece about the silver haired peleton got it exactly right. Cycling side by side is entirely legal and makes for a very enjoyable way of cycling with friends/colleagues despite the weather (though Saturday would have tried that a bit!). I am one of the few qualified cycling instructors within NI and we teach exactly what you described. Keeping out from the edge to reclaim the road and avoiding be squeezed into the gutter among the gravel, thorns etc. Many cyclists feel that they are getting in the way of other road users and keep too close to the edge of the road thus allowing drivers to pass whilst keeping on ‘their’ side of the carriageway. Sitting out ensures that motorists must wait until the road is clear of other traffic before overtaking,

Dear Nr Waugh,

Thank you for your article about the Catholic Church's position with regard to the events in the Anglican Church, I think it is a reasonable good summary of the situation. I was at both the breakaway conference in Jerusalem, GAFCON, and at the Lambeth Conference in Canterbury, reporting for the Lesbian and Gay Christian Movement.

I am saddened, however, that you describe Bishop Gene Robinson as the one "who abandoned his wife and children for his current male partner." Bishop Robinson came to terms with the fact that he was gay and he and his wife sought an amicable divorce. They continued with joint custody of their two daughters. He later met his current partner, Mark Andrews, and his ex-wife has also now remarried. They remain good friends and meet together at family gatherings, etc.

Divorce is never a good outcome, it may, however, sometimes be the lesser of two evils. I have met Bishop Robinson and he is a fine Christian leader.

I am just watching the olympics in Sydney, Australia and seeing the Pommie team (under the badge "great britain") winning at rowing. How does NI think about its exclusion from "the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland"? I, for one was upset.

I am endevouring to trace some information on an event which was published by your newspaper on February 1921.The article was headed 'Belfast's Tribute To 'Specials' funeral. I have in my possession cuttings from your paper but unfortunately they are in very bad condition & difficult to read.My Mother ,Hannah was the wife of Special Constable Cummings who was murdered by the I.R.A.My Mother & Father [my Mother's second husband ] migrated to Australia in 1928 with two young sons & I was born here some years later. As seemed to be the norm for that generation , they spoke little of the past & now I am anxious to discover some of that past.So now I am hoping you may be able to supply me with copies of that long ago event? My name is Dorothy English &  I live at2 Koala Court, Whittington , Victoria, 3219, Australia. I realize this may be a strange request, but I trust you can oblige. The date in February was the 10th. Thank you in anticipation. Yours sincerely,  Dorothy English.
