A female shop worker was punched in the face by a customer because she told him he was 41 cents short of money needed to buy a cigar.

Police in Lakewood, Colorado, are hunting for the 6ft tall man and have released CCTV footage in the hope he is recognised.

He became enraged when the store clerk told him she needed another 41 cents (25p) to buy a $1.41 Swisher Sweets cigar and leaned over the counter and punched her in the face.

The victim, known as Yadira Lara told NBC 4 news: "I told him, I was like, you’re missing the 41 cents.

"He said, 'This is all I have'.

"Everything happened so fast – I didn’t think he was going to hit me."
