Newlyweds Brian and Olivia Stern were enjoying their first dance as man and wife when their romantic moment was spectacularly interrupted by a rather loud bang.

The couple, who were married in Solis Lough Eske Castle in County Donegal, found themselves marching to a the beat of a entirely different drum as they enjoyed their first dance, when they were joined by the 28th Infantry Battalion Pipe and Drum Band, who added some serious style to the couple's big day.

Olivia, from Kildress in County Tyrone, met US Navy man Brian when she moved to New York, and the two got hitched in Donegal in a 'fairytale wedding'.

Maid of honour and sister of the bride Grace McCullagh said, "The whole day from start to finish was like a fairytale. People travelled as far as Armagh to see the military party all suited and booted. It was a very special day for everyone."
