Students enjoying the sun in Belfast

Phew, what a scorcher — again. Northern Ireland was enjoying Mediterranean temperatures yesterday.

Castlederg in west Tyrone was the hottest place in the UK for the second day running, with a top temperature of 26.4C.

Portglenone and Aldergrove, both in Co Antrim, were not far behind with mercury rising to 25.1C.

But just as we’re getting used to the to the sunshine and temperatures of 25C plus, it’s time to put the flip-flops away as the coolness is set to return.

However, a Met Office forecaster said that the temperatures of 18C expected for today were still better than average for this time of year.

Nelson doesn't political geography fall into or cross over into the subject of geography. It certainly did when i was taking the subject. Sean is still wrong though it's obvious that he was challenging the fact that Castlederg in the U.K. Only someone with a very low intelligence could read the article then say they thought Castlederg was in Ireland, as the article clearly tells you that it is in Ireland, Northern Ireland. Can't believe the temperatures though, as Martin says, Long may it last!

Nelson, if the article had incorrectly stated that Castlederg was in Britain, i would have agreed that Sean was right, but as it doesn't and is actually quite clear on it's whereabouts his point cannot be geographic, therefore it must be political, otherwise it makes no sense at all. This being the case, he is actually wrong on two counts. The country to which he refers is actually called the Republic of Ireland and Castlederg is not in it. 2 great countries, 1 Beautiful island, Gods own Garden.

Nelson as informative as your comment is, Sean is trying to make a point by questioning the Headline & fact that Castlederg is in the U.K., the article clearly states Castlederg is in West Tyrone, Northern "Ireland", U.K.. Where does he think Northern Ireland is ?, it's self explanatory. Meaning he is either really is bad at reading & geography too as Sinead says or he actually thought it was in the Republic, either way he is wrong. I learned this in Geography what subject did you learn it in ?

Nelson we all know that Sean wasn't referring to the geographic position of Castlederg. The article clearly states that Castlederg is in Northern "Ireland" & the U.K., Sean is clearly trying to contradict that by stating that he thought it was in Ireland, as opposed to being in the U.K, which can only mean he refuses to accept or doesn't know that Northern Ireland is part of the U.K. or he actually thought it was in the Republic, so he is wrong. I learned these facts in Geography by the way, A*

Sean, you are right to think Castlederg is in Ireland. It is. It just isn't in the Republic of Ireland. It is, as the article states, in Northern Ireland. Northern Ireland is in the UK although not in Britain as some wrongly state. Hope that helps.

A simple news article regarding the weather, stating facts (read the Good Friday "Agreement") and you have to try to turn it into a stupid little constitutional arguement, i seriously feel sorry for you Sean, this is 2009, not 1916, change the record mate, or is that beyond the likes of you ?.

The geographical entity "Ireland" is an island in the North Atlantic for your knowledge Sinéad, and Tyrone, yes is in that same Ireland, after that you can debate NI, UK, ROI these are political entities....so it seems geography is not your own strong point and Séan is actually right....

Gritty, moving and heroic...Billy plays captured life here

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times ... Sunday's 30th anniversary screening of the seminal Too Late to Talk to Billy was riveting viewing. But it wasn't nostalgic viewing.

Scary movie? Their jaws were sore from laughing

Teenage boys love horror films and I have two who are in charge of the remote control in our house, so naturally there’s gore-a-plenty on the box most weekends. However, until recently one film was banned.
